Hate Crime

KULO_HC_resident insightAs a disability community group we wanted to raise awareness of disability hate crime to residents in Knowsley.

In December 2014 we delivered an interactive and thought provoking Disability Hate Crime workshop called ‘Look Closer’ with local residents from across Knowsley.

We wanted to learn more about Hate Crime, it’s impact on victims, the hidden consequences if you are a victim as well as how to recognise & report a Hate Crime to a number of local agencies and organisations.

Through the workshop we learned that reporting of incidents of Hate Crime in Knowsley is low, but we understood –  through sharing our own experiences and insight – there are hidden numbers of local people with disabilities who are victims of this crime but don’t necessarily report it.

KULO_HC report it messageWe created a series of photographs from the information workshop which formed a series of eye catching images to use as a social media campaign throughout this year, to raise awareness of hate crime, it’s negative impact and the importance of reporting it.

Look out for our series of images throughout the year.
