Handmade Poppies for a Good Cause

poppiesHandmade poppies adorned the reception area at the Knowsley Centre for Independent Living in the lead up to Remembrance Sunday 2016.

Our disability community group the Knowsley User Led Organisation (KULO) created the series of poppies as part of our ‘Really Useful Wednesday’ session which took place on 2 November to raise money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2016.

In exchange for a small donation visitors to the centre were invited to take a unique poppy & importantly wear it with pride.

We are delighted to tell you that thanks to all the visitor and staff contributions the total amount raised from the poppy donations was £51.52p.

Our group just want to say a BIG thank you to everyone who contributed!

“It’s brilliant as a group that we can respond to individual suggestions – what a great making idea it was to come up with [handmade poppies] as part of our Really Useful Wednesday sessions, plus generate some funds for a good cause”.

Our inclusive community led Really Useful Wednesday sessions take place every week (10 – 12pm) at the Centre in the showroom area.

All ages and disabilities are very welcome to attend!
