aids and adaptationsIf you live in Knowsley and you have a physical or learning disability, sight or hearing loss, frailty or illness you may be eligible for financial help towards the cost of equipment, home adaptations or other essential items to improve your independence, comfort, safety and quality of life at home.

The Knowsley Access Team is the first point of contact for information and advice on aids and home adaptions.

You can also get support on the amount you may have to pay towards any work undertaken through a Disabled Facilities Grant. We have attached some guidance if you live in Knowsley for applying for a Disabled Facilities Grant DFG Advice Leaflet V3 Dec 2011

Sibling Support in Knowsley

siblingsHave you heard about the free Siblings Service available in Knowsley?

They provide support and weekly activities for brothers and sisters of children with a disability, complex need or life limiting illness.

The siblings service recognise that brothers and sisters of children with disabilities need some time out and a space for them to share their stories and experiences and most of all focusing on enjoying themselves and having fun.

It’s run by an organisation called PSS and the Siblings Service has a range of activities they run for children aged 4 – 19 years in Knowsley including, cookery sessions, sports, group games, discussions, ourdoor pursuits and fun days out.

The friendly team are always open to suggestions and ideas from their young people too!

Get on over to a fab, FREE Autism Fun day Thursday 17th April from 11 – 2pm at the Stockbridge Village Neighbourhood Centre, the Withens L28 1AB.

Tonnes to do for the kids including junk modelling, sports and games activities, Wheels for all, as well as a FREE swimming session from 1.30 – 2.30pm.

Tonnes to do for parents as well!

Local Parents group SPEAK Knowsley will be on hand as well as lots of local services to share info and local opportunities.

Free Sports Sessions for Disabled Young People

L14 free sports activities If your 14 – 26yrs take part in FREE accessible sports sessions for disabled young people.

Every Friday 5 – 7pm at The Gate Community Centre, Princess Drive Huyton L14 9NQ.
