Care Workers for Change Comes to Knowsley

Care Workers for Change is a national campaign from Unison, which is demanding dignity in social care through fair funding of care services, decent jobs in the care sector, and quality of local care services.

We were delighted as a grassroots community organisation in Knowsley to meet local representatives from Unison’s Nation campaign, who told us more about their work and why they were doing it.

We also told them about our first hand experiences of care and access to decent care along with our hopes, desires and aspirations for a fairer future.

Care Workers for Change want to meet more grassroots Knowsley community organisations and groups just like ours and they can tell your group about their campaign – you’ll also be able to share your experiences of care with them. last week the campaign members also met with the The Big Help Project and Halewood Town Council.

Maybe as a community, if we can all get behind this, our council & Knowsley CCG could endorse this campaign and really think twice about the ethics of care sector companies they buy in to deliver care services on our behalf in Knowsley.

In the meantime why not sign the Care Workers for Change  community pledge and let them know how you might be able to give active support to this vital campaign.

Why not get in touch with the campaign via their official Facebook Page, search Careworkersforchange or sign the petition to your councilor here: http://www.unisonnw.org/dignity
