Be Alert for Fraud in Knowsley

Be AlertMerseyside Police & Knowsley Council Trading Standards are aware of a fraud circulating targeting elderly and vulnerable members of the community.

Older residents have received phone calls from a caller claiming to be from the GP surgery asking for an appointment to discuss mobility needs.

During the appointment, the person is persuaded to buy mobility aids which are either unnecessary or inappropriate and always expensive.

If you receive a call like this, please check with your GP surgery first before agreeing to a visit.

If anyone has been targeted in this manner please contact Sue Kesler, Trading Standards Section 0151 443 4738.

If you wish to report a scam, rip-off or an issue you are having with a company, product or service, you should contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Service which provides free, confidential and impartial advice on consumer issues and, if necessary, will refer your request to the most appropriate Trading Standards Service for investigation.

Please call the helpline on 0345 4040506 (or 020 8185 0710 from mobiles) or complete their online form at http://tinyurl.com/o43ml43
