It mightn’t look much, but this raised kerb (white arrow) means that a wheelchair user can get in and out of a taxi or car safely and easier at Knowsley’s Centre for Independent Living.
Thanks to our board member Jim Jamieson for raising this access issue, which resulted in a car/taxi drop off zone, with accompanying raised kerb to enable wheelchair users to get out of taxis/cars more independently, with dignity and importantly, safely.
We are a realistic & we know these are few & far between but we need more public places/buildings to follow suit and just see things from a different perspective.
If you have an accessibility issue – get in touch with us!
